About us
Solar is what we do — and it is all we do
From a small engineering firm in Athlone to a specialist solar contractor working across 16 counties. The focus has never widened, and that is deliberate.

Our story
From Lumen Engineering to Lumen Solar
We started in 2013 as Lumen Engineering, and moved into solar PV because it was the work we kept being asked to do — and the work we were best at.
Over the 13 years since, we have installed on domestic rooftops, industrial and commercial roofs, farm buildings and community facilities. The scale has changed considerably. The approach has not: understand the building and its load first, specify equipment second, and be straight with people about what solar will and will not do for them.
Renaming the company to Lumen Solar simply reflected reality. Solar is not a division or a sideline here — it is the whole business, which is why our people spend their time getting better at it rather than spreading across a dozen trades.
Where we are
Our office and stores are in Blyry Business & Commercial Park, Athlone, Co. Westmeath. Being physically in the Midlands is not a marketing line — it decides how fast we can get to a survey, and how fast we can get back to you three years later when something needs attention.

How we work
Four things we do not compromise on
Engineering before sales
We came out of engineering, not sales, and it shows in how we quote. A system is designed against a load profile and a roof survey — not picked from a price list.
Say no when no is the answer
Some roofs are too shaded, some buildings consume too little, and some batteries would never pay their way. We would rather lose a sale than install something that disappoints.
One team, start to finish
Survey, design, installation, commissioning and servicing are all done by us. Nothing is handed to a subcontractor once you have signed.
Still here in ten years
Solar is a thirty-year-plus asset. The value of a warranty depends entirely on whether the company behind it still exists. We have been trading since 2013.
Credentials
Registrations you can check independently
Solar attracts a lot of claims. These are the ones that carry weight, and all of them are verifiable without taking our word for it.
SEAI Registered Solar PV Company & Registered Installer
Required for your installation to qualify for the SEAI grant. If an installer is not on the register, there is no grant — regardless of the quality of the work.
Registered Electrical Contractor (Safe Electric)
Electrical work in Ireland must be carried out by a registered contractor, who is responsible for certifying the installation on completion.
Solar Ireland member
Membership of the industry representative body for the Irish solar sector.
Track record
Organisations we have worked with
Reach
Midlands first, nationwide where it makes sense
Athlone, Mullingar, Tullamore, Longford, Ballinasloe and Roscommon are our home patch — close enough that survey visits and aftercare calls are routine rather than expeditions. For larger commercial and farm projects we travel considerably further.
We are honest about the trade-off. If you are at the far edge of our range and the job is small, we will tell you that a local installer will serve you better on response times.
