Terms & Conditions
These terms cover the use of this website and the general basis on which we provide our services. Your individual quotation and contract take precedence where they differ.
1. Who these terms apply to
These terms apply between you and Lumen Solar, Blyry Business & Commercial Park, Athlone, Co. Westmeath, N37 EC93. By using this website you accept these terms. If you engage us to carry out work, the specific terms set out in your quotation and contract apply in addition to, and where inconsistent take precedence over, these general terms.
2. Website content
We take care to keep the information on this website accurate and current, particularly grant figures and scheme conditions. However, schemes and rates change, sometimes at short notice. Nothing on this website constitutes a quotation, an offer, or professional advice about your specific property.
Grant figures published here are checked against the relevant scheme sources and dated on the page. Always confirm the current position with SEAI or the Department of Agriculture, or ask us to confirm it as part of your quotation.
3. Quotations
- Quotations are valid for the period stated on the quotation, and for 30 days where no period is stated.
- A quotation becomes a binding agreement only when it is accepted in writing by both parties.
- Prices include VAT at the applicable rate. A 0% VAT rate currently applies to the supply and installation of solar panels on private dwellings.
- Quotations are based on the information available at survey. If conditions materially different from those surveyed are discovered — for example concealed structural defects — we will inform you and agree any variation with you before proceeding.
4. Installation services
- All electrical work is carried out by a registered electrical contractor and certified on completion.
- Installations are carried out by an SEAI-registered installer where the work is grant-supported.
- Installation dates are agreed in advance. We will notify you as early as possible of any change.
- You are responsible for providing safe and clear access to the installation areas, including the roof, meter position and consumer unit.
- We carry public liability and employer's liability insurance. Certificates are available on request.
5. Warranties
Equipment warranties are provided by the respective manufacturers and are registered in your name. The exact terms, durations and conditions for the specific equipment quoted are set out in your quotation and handover pack. As a general guide, the equipment we specify typically carries:
- Solar panels: we install glass-glass panels carrying a 30-year warranty
- Inverters: a manufacturer warranty of 10 years or more
- Batteries: a manufacturer warranty of 10 years or more, typically also expressed in cycles or energy throughput, whichever expires first
Separately from manufacturer warranties, Lumen Solar provides a workmanship warranty covering the quality of our installation. The duration is stated in your quotation.
Warranties do not cover damage caused by third parties, alteration by others, extreme weather events, or failure to carry out reasonable maintenance.
6. Grants
We assist with SEAI and TAMS grant applications, but we cannot guarantee approval. Grant amounts, eligibility criteria and scheme rules are set by SEAI and the Department of Agriculture and may change without notice. We will always advise you of the current grant position before you commit.
Grants are paid to you, not to us, and are subject to the scheme's own conditions — including the requirement that no work begins before a grant offer is issued.
7. Payment
Payment terms are specified in your individual quotation. A deposit may be required to confirm your installation date and to order materials. The balance is due on completion of the installation unless otherwise agreed in writing.
8. Cancellation
You may cancel an agreed installation with at least seven days' notice at no charge. Cancellation with less than seven days' notice may incur a charge to cover materials already ordered and costs already incurred.
Where a contract is agreed off-premises or at a distance, your statutory cooling-off rights under Irish consumer law apply and are not affected by this clause.
9. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from the use of this website or our services, and our total liability for any claim relating to our services is limited to the contract value of the installation in question.
Estimates of generation, savings or payback are projections based on stated assumptions. Actual performance depends on weather, consumption patterns, tariffs and factors outside our control, and is not warranted.
10. Intellectual property
All content on this website — text, images, design and logos — is the property of Lumen Solar and may not be reproduced without written permission.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and any dispute arising from them is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts.
