Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.
Who we are
Lumen Solar is a solar PV installation company based at Blyry Business & Commercial Park, Athlone, Co. Westmeath, N37 EC93, Ireland. Where this policy refers to "we", "us" or "our", it means Lumen Solar.
We are the data controller for the personal data described below. If you have any question about how we handle your data, contact us at info@lumensolar.ie.
What data we collect
We collect personal data when you interact with us, as follows.
- Enquiries and quote requests: your name, email address, phone number, property address or Eircode, whether the property is a home, business or farm, what you are interested in, an optional indication of your electricity spend, and anything you choose to tell us in a message.
- Roof location from your Eircode: when you enter an Eircode, the quote form asks Google Maps to convert it into map coordinates and shows you a satellite view with a pin. If you drag that pin to your roof, the adjusted coordinates are sent to us with your enquiry so we can look at the right roof before visiting. This means Google receives the Eircode you typed together with the technical data any web request carries, such as your IP address, and handles it underGoogle's own privacy policy. The map is optional: use the "No Eircode? Use your address instead" link and no map is loaded and no coordinates are created. Coordinates are kept with the enquiry and deleted on the same schedule as the enquiry itself.
- How you found us: if you arrive through a campaign link or another website, the form records the campaign tags in that link and the referring site's domain, and sends them with your enquiry so we know which of our efforts are working. This is stored in your browser's session storage — not a cookie — and is cleared when you close the tab. It contains no identifiers we could use to track you elsewhere.
- Phone calls and emails: your contact details and the content of your communications with us.
- Installation customers: property address and details, roof and electrical survey information, electricity consumption data, your MPRN, BER details where relevant to a grant application, and the payment information necessary to complete the work.
We do not ask for, and you should never send us, financial details such as full card numbers by email or through the website.
How we use your data
- To respond to your enquiry and prepare a quotation
- To carry out a site survey and design your system
- To support your grant application and to submit installer, grid-notification and completion documents to SEAI or the Department of Agriculture
- To register your system with the network operator
- To install, commission and support your system
- To provide aftercare, servicing and warranty support
- To send you information about your own installation — not marketing
- To meet our legal, tax and regulatory obligations
Legal basis for processing
- Contract: where we need your data to provide the services you have asked for, including installation and grant applications.
- Legitimate interest: to respond to enquiries, to manage and improve our business, and to keep records of work carried out.
- Legal obligation: where we are required to retain records for tax, safety or regulatory reasons.
- Consent: where you have specifically opted in to receive marketing communications.
Who we share your data with
We share personal data only where it is necessary to deliver the service you have asked for:
- SEAI — for domestic and non-domestic grant applications
- The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine — for TAMS applications where you are applying as a farm business
- ESB Networks — for grid connection, meter registration and system registration
- Equipment manufacturers — to register product warranties in your name
- Cloudflare — which hosts this website and processes enquiry form submissions on our behalf
- Brevo — our email provider, which delivers enquiry emails to us and sends you the confirmation of your enquiry, on our behalf under contract
- Google — which provides the satellite map in our quote form. If you use it, Google receives the Eircode you enter and the technical data any web request carries. Google acts as an independent controller for this under its own policy, not as our processor.
We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties for their own marketing.
Cookies, storage and analytics
This website does not set advertising or tracking cookies, and does not use Google Analytics or social media tracking pixels. The quote form uses your browser's own session and local storage for two things — remembering how you found us during your visit, and keeping the form layout consistent if you come back — rather than cookies. The satellite map in the quote form is loaded from Google and may set cookies in your browser, but only once you enter an Eircode and only if you have not chosen the address option instead. Full details are in our Cookie Policy.
How long we keep your data
- Enquiries that do not proceed: two years from your last contact with us, then deleted
- Customer records: seven years after completion of the work, for warranty, tax and regulatory purposes
- Grant documentation: for the period required by the relevant scheme's retention rules
Where your data is held
Your data is held within the European Economic Area wherever possible. Where a service provider processes data outside the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.
Your rights under GDPR
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Have inaccurate data corrected
- Have your data erased, where we have no legal obligation to retain it
- Restrict or object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interest
- Receive your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
- Lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission —dataprotection.ie
To exercise any of these rights, email info@lumensolar.ie. We will respond within one month.
