Solar in Tullamore
Offaly is at the centre of Ireland’s just transition. The wind-down of peat extraction and the closure of the peat-fired stations reshaped employment and energy across the county, and what it left behind is a workforce familiar with energy infrastructure and a strong local appetite for what replaces it.
The town itself is a mix: Georgian and Victorian buildings along the Grand Canal and around the centre, substantial estate housing from the boom years, and a working industrial and distribution base that includes long-established manufacturing and the activity around the Midland Regional Hospital. Commercial roofs in and around the town are generally modern, large and well able to take a sizeable array.
