Local context
Solar in Westmeath
The county has two substantial urban centres pulling in different directions — Athlone on the Shannon in the west, oriented towards Galway and the N6, and Mullingar in the east on the N4 and the Dublin commuter line. Between and around them sit smaller towns like Moate, Kinnegad, Castlepollard and Killucan, and a rural landscape defined by the lakes and by beef and dairy farming.
That spread means we see the full range of Irish building stock inside one county: Georgian and Victorian town properties, seventies and eighties bungalows, dense boom-era estates, modern one-off rural builds and large agricultural and industrial sheds. There is no single Westmeath solar design, and we would be suspicious of anyone offering one.
What is consistent is the electricity picture. Whether it is a commuter household in Mullingar, a dairy operation near the lakes or a manufacturing unit in Athlone, the question that determines whether solar performs is the same: how much of what you generate can you use on site, and at what times of day. Everything in a good design follows from answering that honestly.
What we look for here
Westmeath-specific considerations
What a survey in Westmeath tends to focus on.
We are local, not visiting
Our office, stores and crews are in Athlone. For Westmeath customers that means shorter lead times to survey, and aftercare that does not depend on a crew being routed through the county.
Dairy and beef holdings around the lakes
Parlour, cooling and pumping loads run during daylight, which is the ideal profile for solar. Farm systems in this part of the county tend to consume a high share of their own generation.
Commuter housing usually needs storage to perform
Where a house is empty through the working day, a battery is often the difference between exporting most of your summer generation and using it. We model it from your bills rather than assuming.

Free site survey
An engineer visits, assesses your roof, shading and electrical setup, and designs a system sized to your actual consumption.
Grant & installation
We guide you through the grant application and handle the installer and grid-notification paperwork, then install and commission the system with as little disruption as possible.
Generate & monitor
Your system goes live, you can see what it produces from your phone, and we stay available for servicing and support.
